This school year's incoming freshmen of the Mindanao State University College of Law at MSU General Santos officially began their law school journey through LEXSTART: Freshmen Day 2026 on August 15, 2026 at the MSU Library AVR, Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.
The activity formally opened with a warm welcome from Vice Dean Atty. Donna Ann T. Balboa, followed by a message from the University Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas. The CLSA-SSC President Ryjean Quent Kamid, together with the SSC and the heads of the College’s different organizations, also introduced their respective organizations and welcomed the incoming students to the MSU College of Law.
The event was aimed to welcome the students and provide them a practical headstart to their law school journey through a series of sessions led by the selected faculty members of the college.
SCL Jasmin Macadindang, College Secretary, discussed the academic expectations and school policies outlined in the Student Handbook, while also extending a message of support to the incoming students.
This was followed by Atty. Nestoni M. Senarillos, who conducted a session on “Mastering the ALAC Method”. In his session, he said, “ALAC does not require a long answer; it requires a complete answer” as he emphasized that in answering the examinations, it is not necessarily about giving lengthy answers but providing complete and legally supported ones.
Meanwhile, Atty. Janesa Ladjiman-Sales shared practical strategies on crafting concise case digests and improving retention, equipping the freshmen with techniques to manage the substantial volume of cases they will encounter through law school.
Adding words of encouragement, Judge Marie Jean B. Merañez delivered a message on behalf of the faculty. She likened the law school journey to a series of scattered dots that may initially seem overwhelming, but eventually come together and make sense throughout the whole journey.
The activity concluded with a raffle of codals and commentaries sponsored by REX Book Store, one of the partners of the MSU College of Law. Dyulliana Anushkah Toyogon, Second-Year Representative, delivered the closing remarks.
